Treepeople

Treepeople (Doug Martsch, Scott Schmaljohn, Pat Brown, and Wayne Flower) fell together in 1989, a refangled version of Boise, ID ragepunk outfit State of Confusion. Doug Martsch (Built to Spill, Halo Benders)’s singer-songwriter addition to this energetic brew proved a strong one. Treepeople’s ragged sweetness and strangely touching post-punk pop was a beautiful clue into Martsch’s developing songwriting skill.
