The Sharp Pins exploration of Mods Mayday '79 continues with a blistering take on Squire, "Live without Her Love" out today, world-wide. "Live without Her Love" is excerpted from the upcoming Sharp Pins album Mod Mayday 23 [PRNL071/KLP320]. This album mirrors the ground-breaking 1979 neo-mod bible Mods Mayday '79 (Bridge House Records), which has influence with many pop and punked minds and New Mod Rockers (including our own Jasmine Monk of The Smashing Times).

An authority no less impressive than Anthony Meynell, singer and ace guitarist of Squire, are solidly behind Sharp Pins' 2026 modern tune-up of "Live without Her Love" and Mods Mayday '79. Says Meynell after being played Sharp Pins' version of the Mods Mayday album, "This is really interesting, thanks for connecting me in! The song arrangements really nail the Squire ethos, especially the harmonies and the way you marry it to a 12-string style soundscape rather than getting into the heavy end of guitar sounds.  - and I’m a total fan of 4-track recordings, and spring reverb! I love the way you describe the drums playing standing up etc. that's just the way we did it as well on the early ‘fan club album’ tracks. And the extended ending of B-A-B-Y Baby Love is excellent- I’ve always had a weakness for an extended coda ad-lib fade-out!"

That's some enthusiasm on the part of an original Mods Mayday '79 participant. We share Anthony Meynell's appreciation for Mod Mayday 23 [PRNL071/KLP320], out October 9 and available for PRE-ORDER now from The K Mail Order Dept.
