A new Oruã single is out today, "Casual," on which Oruã maintain their habit of creating the most listenable noise, of unimaginable beauty. Pelt cloud stick rock - - - all in one spacious groove. That is how Oruã delicately mess your mind. "Casual" is the third single derived from the upcoming Oruã album Slacker [KLP307], in stores October 24, available now from The K Mail Order Dept.

Oruã, composed of Lê Almeida (guitar/vocals), João Casaes (synths), Bigu Medine (bass), and Ana Zumpano (drums) was formed during one of the most turbulent periods in recent Brazilian history–a period that saw a coup d’état, political imprisonment, and the rise of the extreme right. The band was idealized by Almeida, a cultural agitator in Rio de Janeiro’s independent scene, most known through his label Transfusão Noise Records. The band came together during improvisonal jam sessions they had at Escritório, an underground creative and community space they all frequented in Brazil.

"'Casual' was a track we made on the road during our 2023 US tour," Lê Almeida explains. "We were traveling together for a long time. The lyrics simply reflect on everyday emotions and the eternal morning grumpiness. The single's cover art was created by Ana Zumpano, our longtime friend and collaborator, and now our drummer. 'Casual' addresses our indie rock essence with distorted guitars and lost dreams in melodies." View the videograph of "Casual" HERE.

The Oruã album Slacker [KLP307] came about when they had their license to psychedelicize revoked and decided to off-road their spiritual trips through the Amazon as one big guitar-bass-drum-athon. Eventually Oruã met up with Jim Roth in Seattle, Washington and he laid it all to rest, 24 tracks deep. One may now order an LP copy of Slacker [KLP307] via The K Mail Order Dept. and see/hear for yourself.
