It's impossible to overstate how important Fitz of Depression are to the Olympia music world. Any artist you may associate with Olympia - - - Unwound, KARP, Beat Happening, Bikini Kill, Nirvana, C Average, Calamity Jane, Beck, Dirtybirds - - - they've all genuflected at the feet of The Fitz. Singer Mikey Dees grew up in Tumwater and Olympia, Washington and was one of the first teen punk rockers to haunt downtown, before there were any shows there at which to skank. Fitz of Depression are his mortal wound bestowed upon the world, and we are all the better for the bandages left behind.
Epilogue E.P. [KLP299] features the final Fitz of Depression recordings made with Mikey before his untimely death. In fact, he wasn't able to finish the recordings; a few songs were finished for him by guest vocalists including band member Ryan Von Bargen and Chris Smith of KARP. This album is the sweaty Olympia basement show of your dreams.
One may order Fitz of Depression, Epilogue E.P. [KLP299] from The K Mail Order Dept.
