In the world of fish narc, things are happening. Their new album Uncle [KLP313] is out October 16, with album release celebrations planned on both the West and East Coasts. More important than that, the first single from Uncle [KLP313] is out NOW, "Much Less Me."
A rocker for the road, “Much Less Me” evokes interstate driving and deep yearning. It leads with a grungy guitar solo before shifting into the song itself. Like an 18-wheeler bursting through the morning fog, it is a beautifully-crafted anthem for starting anew. The "Much Less Me" videograph shot on super 8 by frequent K collaborator Jolie M-A show fish narc's last days in Olympia before moving to LA. References to Olympia cultural canon are woven throughout and the visual quality mirrors the sentiment of the song.In other words, "Much Less Me" is your soundtrack for the rest of the summer!
Uncle [KLP313] is a culmination of the punk rock musical work fish narc has done in his native Northwest environs. Says fish narc singer/guitarist Ben, “I feel Uncle is the best record I’ve ever made. The songs grew without changing, the textures are spot on, and Alex [Farrar] and I saw eye to eye about almost everything. The album represents what I want for my band and songwriting and is the touchstone on which all my future work will be based.” Uncle is the product of a collaboration between fish narc and producer Alex Farrar, of Asheville, NC. “Alex Farrar came highly recommended as a producer to bring the project into its best form, emphasizing the unique characteristics of the songs while still shaping them into something more than they were before he touched them. I wanted someone who was going to do the right amount, a musical Goldilocks of sorts. I also really like his work with the band Wednesday.”
