Raised in a Nigerian community in England, currently living in Berlin, West Germany, Juba travels to Lagos, Nigeria to interview several of the cities dance party queens including DJ Ayizan, DJ Yin and Sensei Lo. These women come to the DJ booth from various directions - - - they are producers, beat makers, singers and radio programmers. All are dedicated to moving the crowd.
In Assurance we learn about the trials they must endure overcoming the stigma against female DJs from their families and the culture at large to get where they are now, and how the economic and political realities of Nigerian life shape their work.
