"Pink Cadillac" [KLP287dig1], the first digital single from the upcoming Calvin Johnson album Gallows Wine [KLP287] will be available on all digital platforms and playing on radio stations across the globe today, January 18, 2023.
"Pink Cadillac" was written by a sixteen year old Calvin in 1979, a few months before witnessing Tav Falco's Panther Burns open for The Cramps at Irving Plaza (N.Y., N.Y.). Attending this event confirmed "Pink Cadillac" set Calvin recklessly driving on the proper crash course to rock'n'roll oblivion.
For reasons long forgotten, the song remained unrecorded until the Gallows Wine sessions at Pompeii Studio, Columbus, Mississippi, with the combo Hartle Road providing instrumental accompaniment. The inspiration for "Pink Cadillac" is rockabilly from the Midwest and Mid-South. The execution is classic tear-down threnody.

Calvin Johnson is a music-making fellow born and currently residing in the Northwest corner of the United States who has contributed his bit to making the region known for moon howling rock'n'roll. Gallows Wine [KLP287] is his fifth solo album, after stints with roadhouse outfits Beat Happening, The Halo Benders, Dub Narcotic Sound System and The Hive Dwellers.
