Our dear friend Josh Alper has left us behind…He first came into the life of K when his band the Lowdown recorded their debut album at Dub Narcotic Studio with Phil Elverum. He continued to rock weirdly through the eons via so many top-notch forums: Whysp, the Art Museums and his latest combo, the Fruit Stripe Band. I had the pleasure of playing a show with the Fruit Stripe Band in October, Josh was really excited to be “just the bass player” in a band, to not have any major organizational responsibilities except rockin’ it hardcore.
Josh was always a huge cheerleader for Olympia-Anacortes-NW artists. He, his various band mates and associates organized a lot of shows for everybody and their mother! His enthusiasm for art music life was contagious and inspiring. Hanging around his apartment before the show last October listening to his latest musical finds was def a highlight of the tour.
We have all admired his dedication to the cycling life!
There is an opportunity to celebrate the life and work of Josh Alper in Santa Cruz, CA. Saturday, March 22 (see above poster). If you can attend, please do!
