Beat Happening “Black Candy”

In March, 1988 Beat Happening appeared live on local cable access channel TCTV, The Saturday Very Late Afternoon Show. This was right before their second album Jamboree [KLP002] was released on Rough Trade and Beat Happening were heading across the U.S. on their first major tour. “Black Candy” is an excerpt from that TCTV broadcast; this video was included on the Beat Happening Crashing Through [KLP115] box set.

D+ “Rusted” by Clarity Miller

From their second album Dandelion Seeds [KLP084], “Rusted” is classic D+ (Bret Lunsford, Karl Blau, Phil Elverum). It is a result of the second trip by D+ to record with Calvin Johnson at Dub Narcotic Studio (the first resulted in their debut album D+ [KLP072]). Clarity Miller is a filmmaker from Anacortes, Washington who made several short films with other K artists, Old Time Relijun, the Microphones, the Crabs. “Rusted” appears on a VHS compilation Clarity made with Tae Won Yu, Black Eye.
