Mikrofest happens at random intervals. There have been over a dozen since 2007 in Olympia, Portland and elsewhere. Loosely organized by easy going people like Markly Morrison and Andrew Dorsett (both of LAKE and other musical endeavors), 100 people crowd a house to get solid with 20 or more musical combinations or individual artists. Yesterday it happened at the far eastern edge of Olympia on the shores of Lake D’Miller. Aantarcticaa were making the back porch scene when I arrived. Here they are, Eleanor Murray and Ben Kamen:

Audience members were enthralled. Here are China Star (who has a collaborative art exhibition with Rebecca Figel this month at Kitzel’s Crazy Delicious Deli), Briana Marela and Richard Album, caught in the act:Ruby Fray were quite delightful, in their stripped-down version of self:Assorted Memory Boys (with Eleanor Murray back behind) were down, completely:Let’s make a quick cut to Peter David Connolly (Visiting Nurses):and back to Ruby Fray (Ms. Emily Beanblossom!):Jesse Kanas Collins had a time making music indoors that was carefully random and quite engrossing:Evan Hashi and Andrew Dorsett, all ears:It wouldn’t be Mikrofest without Generifus! Now a quick detour to Jack Lewis (Awkward Energy):For reasons unknown, Stephen Steinbrink has been living in this farmhouse for several weeks. He also played the Mikrofest, here he is in deep preparation:There were those busy swimming and preparing food on an open flame, oblivious of all creative expression uncontained:Mikrofest, it will again.
