Friday night LAKE played at Northern with Agesandages and Generifus. Recently having released Giving and Recieiving [KLP228]  on K, the band played songs such as “Roger Miller” off the new album, one of my favorites. Seeing them live is a magical experience. The paper lanters hanging around the stage seemed to dance with the crowd swaying. As musicians they are deeply talented and have a way of projecting their over-all feel onto the audience. The stage no longer is a stage but a platform for something out of the ordinary. After seeing shows multiple times a week I’ve noticed that most bands lack in their ability to turn the stage into their own. LAKE‘s music is free flowing, melodic, jam like, but wise in its structure.
