Arrington Songs of Psychic Fire cover photoOn the Spring Equinox (March, 2012) Arrington de Dionyso sequestered himself in the Dub Narcotic Studio for an all night recording session of psychic proportions. The session was inspired by an extraordinary experience on a recent solo tour to Sweden on which Arrington says “I performed far away from any city in the ruins of an ancient fortress, feeling the call of the spirit through the rocks & burning branches.”

This was the atmosphere he attempted to capture at Dub Narcotic Studio that night, playing directly to a Compact Disc Recorder through assorted echo boxes and reverb chambers including the much-loved Dub Narcotic Echoplex. The results are summarized in the new cassette-only release Songs of Psychic Fire, Vol. III, released by the Oakland, Calif. label Manzanita Sound.

The Songs of Psychic Fire, Vol. III session is an important precursor to the Dub Narcotic Studio sessions later that Spring and Summer from which arose the new Arrington de Dionyso’s Malaikat dan Singa album Open the Crown [KLP244]. Both of these recordings are available now from the K Mail Order Dept.

You can view a video for a song from Open the Crown, “I Create in the Broken System”, HERE.

Arrington de Dionyso’s Malaikat dan Singa left this week on a two month tour of North America, you can view a complete list of their show dates at the K Shows Page.
