Breathe Owl Breathe at Dub Narcotic

Breathe Owl Breathe has remained one of my favorite bands ever since I first saw them (on tour with Little Wings) while doing sound at Nothern Olympia a couple few years back.

Earlier this year I reached out to invite them for a couple days at the studio, to which they enthusiastically agreed! I expected some most excellent recording times, but here’s what I didn’t expect: A goal of tracking 20+ songs, recording with folk legend Michael Hurley, some heart warming gifts, and some really good times (oh, wait, this latter I totally did expect).

This band’s music is amazing! I ended up with a copy of The Listeners, a gorgeous woodcut printed children’s book with accompanying 7″ record. Well worth purchasing for your kids, their kids, yourself, a friend, relative, or anyone who you think deserves a really special gift.

Breathe Owl Breathe’s Magic Central is one of the most beautiful, amazingly composed, and wholly engaging albums I’ve heard in many, many years. Please give it a listen (and a buy if you’re into it)!

Thanks B.O.B. for coming out to Olympia to record with me, for the maple syrup, the wonderful book, and the great times!
