ATLAS SOUND

Atlas Sound is the long-term project of Bradford Cox, lead singer and guitarist for the psychedelic-ambient band Deerhunter. Originally from Athens, Cox moved to Atlanta where he founded Deerhunter in 2001. Cox released his first Atlas Sound record in 2008, Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel. During the same year, Cox was on a U.S. tour with Deerhunter. The band stopped in Olympia, WA where Cox met up with Calvin Johnson aka Selector Dub Narcotic and recorded a single. In true Bradford Cox style, he created the song on the spot without any preparation. CJ added his own flourishes, vocals, and melodica for the B side “version”. This resulted in Atlas Shrugged [DBN113], a 45 inch single and addition to the Dub Narcotic Disco Plate series. In 2009, Kranky and 4AD released Logos, Atlas Sound’s second album. Bradford Cox is still touring as Atlas Sound as well as Deerhunter.
