MIRAH AND MARISA ANDERSON RELEASE NEW SONG TO RAISE FUNDS FOR HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORT
K Records recording artist, Mirah has released a new song in response to the devastation of gulf coast communities in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The song questions the injustice and neglect that led to the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of New Orleans residents and the suffering of thousands more.
Originally written on a dusty out-of-tune autoharp, the recorded version of NOLA features multi-instrumentalist and fellow Portlander Marisa Anderson (The Dolly Ranchers, Evolutionary Jass Band) accompanying Mirah on banjo, Wurlitzer, vocal harmonies and lap steel.
The funds generated will be split between the National Youth Advocacy Coalition which is providing support to hurricane displaced LGBTQ (lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer ) youth and families, and The Powerhouse Temple Church in Portland Oregon which is providing direct support to a growing group of hurricane survivors who now call Portland home.
The song was recorded by Jef Brown at the Michigan Avenue Social Club and mastered by Timothy Stollenwerk at Stereophonic Mastering in Portland Oregon.
